ENG vs PAK: Babar Azam nears Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli’s all-time T20I records – MASHAHER

Babar Azam will be in focus when Pakistan lock horns with Jos Buttler’s England in the 4-match T20I series, starting Wednesday, May 22 at Headingley in Leeds. Edgbaston, Sophia Gardens and Kennington Oval will host the other games on May 25, 28 and 30 respectively.

Babar has been a prolific run-scorer for Pakistan and would want to stay in form before their campaign in the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. Recently, he became the most successful skipper in T20Is after going past Uganda’s Brian Masaba. He also has the most fifty plus scores in T20Is (38), going past Virat Kohli.

Babar recently played a crucial role in Pakistan beating Ireland 2-1 in the 3-match T20I series. Although he bagged a duck in the second game, he finished the series as the joint-highest top run-scorer along with Mohammad Rizwan. Babar scored 132 runs at an average of 44 and a strike-rate of 148.31 with 2 half-centuries and a top score of 75 to his name.

If Pakistan are to beat England, Babar’s form with the bat is going to hold a lot of significance. Having scored 3955 runs from 117 matches, the experienced campaigner has been a stalwart for Pakistan in the shorter format.

Here are the milestones Babar Azam can achieve in the ENG vs PAK T20I series

45 – Babar Azam is 45 runs short of becoming only the third batter to score 4000 runs in T20Is. Virat Kohli and Suzie Bates are the other batters to have achieved the feat.

83 – Babar Azam needs 83 runs to become the all-time leading run-scorer in Men’s T20Is. Kohli is currently on top with 4037 runs from 117 matches.

48– Babar Azam needs 48 runs to become the all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is against England. Virat Kohli holds the record, having scored 639 runs from 20 matches.

95 – Babar Azam needs only 95 runs to become the leading run-scorer among away batters in T20Is on English soil. Australia’s Aaron Finch holds the record with 370 runs from 6 matches at an average of 61.66.
